Oslo was founded for more than 1000 years ago. In 1624 the city burned completely to the ground. The king, who was Danish, decided to move the entire city from the old area to the protection of the walls of Akershus Fortress.

This year we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of the new town. It is also the 750th anniversary of Norway’s’ first “Landslov” – a law for the entire country. It was the very first of its kind in Europe.Oslo has gone through an immense and interesting development from the period of the Vikings until today.

Join us on a walk through the history of Oslo where we will get to know both some interesting people and landmarks that represents the development and changes of Oslo. In case of bad weather conditions there will be an alternative tour taking place indoors.
